Journey to Lyme Specialization – Dr.  Elyssa Blissenbach, MD

With nearly 30 years of medical experience, Dr. Elyssa Blissenbach began her career in primary care, serving patients for over two decades before a pivotal encounter changed her path. After treating a severely ill physician assistant with Lyme disease, she was compelled to dive deeper into the world of chronic tick-borne illnesses. Over the past 10 years, she has dedicated herself fully to this specialty, developing a highly personalized, investigative approach informed by extensive research and close observation of complex patient cases.

Expert Care and Advanced Protocols

Dr. Blissenbach remains at the forefront of Lyme disease care by following protocols from leading experts such as Dr. Rawls, Dr. Marty Ross, and Dr. Horowitz. She regularly attends ILADS conferences and is actively working toward ILADS certification. Among a small number of practitioners using Dr. Horowitz’s advanced Dapsone protocol, she has seen significant improvements in even the most challenging cases. Her treatment plans are customized for each individual, blending herbal and antibiotic options based on gut health, severity of illness, and patient preferences. Licensed in FL, GA, SC, AL, VA, and NC.

Compassionate, Accessible, and Independent

As a solo practitioner for more than 20 years, Dr. Blissenbach has full control over every aspect of patient care. Her team—many of whom have been with her for over 15 years—helps foster a warm, family-like atmosphere. She is also one of the few Lyme-literate doctors in Florida who accepts insurance, making her care more accessible. In addition to primary treatment plans, she offers supportive therapies such as Myers cocktails and IV glutathione at reduced prices to ensure broader access. Deeply committed to patient support, she offers frequent appointments, maintains open communication through a dedicated Lyme-specific email, and ensures that every patient feels heard, understood, and well cared for.
